Yunnan Pagoda Black Tea is a speciality tea from Yunnan Province of China. Dian Hong, literally Yunnan Red, refers to the origin and type of tea, and Black Pagoda refers to the type of tea and the fact that it comes in pagoda or tower shapes.

This Dian Hong Black Pagoda has been tied together into tower shapes prior to drying. Each is about 2.5 grams. After the leaves are dried, they retain this shape, but once they are submerged in water, they open up to form a flower. The Dian Hong Black Pagoda is simply hand-tied, and the actual tea used to produce it is of very high quality, yielding a cup of tea bursting with fantastic flavour.

Similar to Yunnan Gold Tip tea.

Infusion Colour: Bright reddish brown colour with lustre.

Leaf Appearance: Pagodas= towers in black and gold. When infused, reddish brown leaves appear to be one bud with one small leaf.
Origin: Fengqing (凤庆), Yunnan(云南),  China.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight. Re-seal packaging between use.

 

How to Brew

  • Use 1 teaspoon of leaves (roughly 3g) for each person you are brewing tea for.
  • Boiling water is bets for infusing black tea. 95-100 degrees is perfect.
  • Steep for 2-5 minutes according to taste.
  • Reuse the leaves a further 3 times, by simply adding more hot water.
